Paid in full...eventually

This week, I made phone calls 

to all of our hospital creditors.

All but one 

was willing to wait for 

our approval for 

financial aid from the hospital. 

The only thing I need to do is 

call each bill that comes in 

to REMIND US 

of our debt 

to REMIND THEM 

of our pending financial approval.

It took ALL DAY 

but I did it. 

However, 

I have four to RE-call already 

as the bills keep coming to 

‘remind us’ of the debt we owe.

One creditor I called told me 

‘I’m not supposed to tell you this, but... 

they have already written off your debt; 

you owe us nothing.’

Granted, 

it was ‘only 495.00’ 

but compared to a million dollars, 

that amount does legitimately earn 

‘it was only...’

I also discovered a $12.11 bill 

as I was going through the ‘stack.’ 

I’m like, 

hey, 

Ican afford that! 

And so I ‘paid’ 

one of our hospital bills. 

It was only $12.11...but still. 

I took my PAID stamp 

and stamped them both 

with great enthusiasm, 

a beaming smile 

that I was able to 

subtract from our debt 

instead of add to it, 

and in the distance 

I faintly heard the hallelujah chorus...
